Time May Change Me

Great news- I have been accepted into the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts MFA painting program!!! I'll be moving to Philadelphia in about 2 months, and I seriously can't explain just how excited I am to have an opportunity like this. I really fell head over heals for PAFA after my visit, and it became my #1 choice for a grad school. Bring it on east coast!

A few other things to update on that I decided to combine it into one big post: I finally managed to upgrade my over-a-year old website from the "I-just-learned-flash" design to a "I-just-barely-remember-flash-now" aesthetic. Someday, I promise, I will make my sites in html because I am aware that flash has it's downsides. Special thanks to my website professor Chris Koehler for taking some time off last weekend to help me launch my new site.

Old website design for DeVillustrations.com

I wanted a site that was extremely simple and clean and had none of the tempting/distracting bells and whistles that flash has to offer. Besides the headaches, it was pretty fun to create, I wouldn't mind doing a few more. My gallery/illustration work is unsegregated and will stay that way until the stork brings me new art. I also took down my sketchbook and comic section and they will be updated here on my ohger account for a while. One new finished painting hasn't been photographed yet, but will be posted in a few days, and another new painting is posted below.  Check out my new website and let me know what you think, I'd love to get some feedback on what's working/not working and how to make it better.

New website design for alyssadeville.com

A week ago I started moving my artwork down from Oakland. As I was looking through the last 5 years of art I discovered this weird tradition where I paint myself every 6 months or so. Sometimes the portrait never gets finished, and other times they were for school assignments. Usually they happen because I don't know what else to paint at the time. I thought it would be fun to post some of the old pieces to go along with my new portrait:

Time to go celebrate and pack!  :)
